What’s a Soul Mate?

"It’s like a best friend but more. It’s the one person in the world who knows you better than anyone else. That someone who makes you a better person. No, actually they don’t make you a better person. You do that by yourself because they inspire you. A soul mate is someone you carry with you forever. It’s one person who knew you, accepted you and believed in you before anyone else did or when no one else would. And no matter what happens, you’ll always love them and nothing could ever change that."

Feeling Crafty

So it's always been known that I was never one to have a hobby that consisted of patience. I've decided during my time of unemployment (this time around) I'm going to take a stab at some craftiness. I'm working on making invitations, soooo if you're planning a party, contact me! I'd love to work something out with you. It's time I put my college design classes to use! :) Also I've decided to try and work my way back into photography, and I discovered a professional print company that does an AMAZING job on prints and I'm in LOVE with my outcome! I'm so excited I took a risk on this one, the words are hard to describe on how excited I am about this project!!! I can't thank Shirley enough on the encouragement she shed on me! Lastly my last craft will remain a surprise I will later reveal! I hope it turns out as awesome as my last risk did! Wish me luck!!!

Food Poisoning

UGH! I believe I have caught for the first time in my life, food poisoning.
We had Mexican food Friday night in Stillwater before doing the annual Walkaround, or as Shirley and I prefer to call it Critique the Greek.
Needless to say after our 3 hour wait from standing in line, to sitting, to finally getting food, to checking out and leaving...I believe they poisoned me!
The confusion comes in now because mom ordered the same meal as I did and I ate a quarter of what she had, because I filled up on chips and salsa.
How did this tiny quarter of a chicken quesadilla cause me so much pain and agony at 4:45am?! Well long story short, I feel I still have yet to recover. I've yet to eat a full meal without getting all queasy over and over. What is the secret to getting over this stuff? Should I go visit a doctor by now since it hasn't passed? I just want to feel my 100% self again. One would believe that I have the flu, however I have no fever, chills, or severe sore throat...which is why I've opted to believe it's food poisoning.
Any suggestions?!?!

Life.

So my blogging has really slowed down.
I have been so busy lately I've barely had time to remember to breathe. I wish some of my busy life was mostly joyous, but that's not the case.

I just got back from a quick trip to Houston. Kacie, Dane, Shanee and I all went down there to visit Kacie's sick grandmother. We knew it wasn't going to be a fun happy trip. Less than 3ish hours upon arriving in Houston, her grandmother passed onto Heaven. Please pray for her family for comfort and strength. I am doing my best to be a rock for her, but death never has been easy for me....

Onto a happier note with wedding planning! Brad and I had a very successful Engagement Luau! I've ordered my bridesmaid dresses, lost a bridesmaid, picked a replacement, and purchased a partial amount of wedding invites. I've actually bought out two different stores worth of invites and still need more!! We also checked out a venue, but have to go back early in the AM to get more info before we decide to book it. Things with the wedding seem to be moving along really. I'm kind of surprised at how some things are working out. I guess that means I have a decent hold on things.

Work update, I've been moved into a full-time position. I'm taking my teacher certification test in September. I'm not ready to start studing for it yet, but I MUST! Wish me luck and prayers for this are greatly appreciated!! Other than that, I'm not sure what else there is worth to write home about.

Nothing Much.

This past week I've been a working machine. I forgot what it was like to work a full day. I'm not really sure how I feel about it just yet. I liked my freedom to do whatever I pleased throughout the day, now I have something lingering over my head...like a 3-6 shift, or 10-3 breaks and the worst of all 10-3,3-6 days! I'm so ready for Kacie to be back from camp so she can be substitute numero uno again! I'm ready for my inexistent paychecks to return again haha!

Oliver has let it be known that he doesn't like me being gone all the time and shows signs of an attention deprived pup when I get home. Not too much to report on the homefront, just a little vent session that's not really even venting. I'm not used to being busy, it's like I just got thrown in the middle of a lake and was told to swim without a life jacket.

We really need to get on the ball again with our tv series writing so I can reap the benefits of short-sighted stardom! And a big fat paycheck to hold me over for a year+ without more work! Also speaking of Shirley, she recently got me addicted to Friday Night Lights, the tv series. It's awesome! The best part is Brad is addicted to it too, so we have a mutual addiction...for us it's pretty rare. I like the characters personalities; ESPECIALLY, but not limited to, Tim Riggins played by Taylor Kitsch, the ultimate southern gentleman! Brad of course is pulled in by the football drama. It's the best of both worlds in my opinion! You should really check into Netflix'ing it, you won't be disappointed and that's a promise kids!

Other than that, my family is about to be visiting, and I'm so excited! It feels like it's been forever since we've seen each other, and it has! (December 2007 if I'm not mistaken) Anyways, I'm hoping to be their successful tour guide for the most of their trip, of course if they will have me! I also need to double check that I'm not scheduled to work any next week with the exception of the MANDATORY staff meeting at 6 Thursday BLAH. Working is so not meant for me, as I got accustomed to for my short short poor poor 6 months.
Anyways that's all I've got for you these days. I'm working and still the same boring person I was!

Quick Update

So I haven't posted in forever. To catch you up to speed.
While visiting Paris I got engaged! Yes, who would have thought me of all people to give in and commit to that?!

Other news, I got a job! Wow, have you fallen out of your chairs yet? Do we need to check and see if Hell has frozen over? Are pigs flying outside? I know! Shocking, absolutely shocking!

More info about the job, it's a sub position which means I only work when I want to work! That so fits into my job criteria. Random part it's at a child care development facility. Me and kids who would have thought?! So far it hasn't been too bad. Yesterday was stressful, but it was because the master teacher wasn't on time and it threw everything off for me. Today was much better.

No worries kids, I'm still getting to spend plenty of time with Oliver, and I don't work long hours. So far my longest work shift was from 7am-2pm. Not too shabby if you ask me. I'm mostly looking forward to the income, and something to help occupy my free morning time. I really like the afternoons off, thus far the latest I've had to work was until 2:45. This job has the best hours I could ask for, well maybe not the 7am part, but I can adjust! Plus I get weekends off, check again for the job criteria! I know everything happens for a reason, so we'll just see what plan we have working for me now!

Check Another One Off in the "Book of Life"

It is as follows:

Goals
So I was inspired to put my goals on paper from a recent book I’ve started
reading that my cousin sent me, here they are!
1. Visit every MLB Baseball park
ØAmeriquest in Arlington
ØSafeco in Seattle
ØBusch in St. Louis
2. See the Northern Lights in Alaska
3. Live in Seattle
4. Work for the MLB
5. Visit Niagara Falls
6. Take part in an archaeological dig
7. Visit Egypt
8. Have a beagle named Briscoe
9. Marry a sugar daddy
10. See the Eiffel Tower at night
11. Own a Corvette
12. Have a log house in the mountains
13. Visit the Colosseum
14. Be a “professional driver on a closed course”
15. Meet Paul Walker :)
So it seems I have the desire to travel, and spend a lot of money. Perhaps
that’s why I put marry a sugar daddy on there so that I will have
financial backing for it all. Or maybe I’m just really superficial?

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

So my family and I find it American to celebrate Cinco de Mayo every year. We used to refer to it as "Save all the Mayo Day". This celebration entails ordering Mexican take out, a 6-pack of Corona, making margaritas, and wearing appropriate Spanish attire. Here are a couple photos from the past.
Brad being initiated into the Annual Chappell Cinco de Mayo celebración 5/5/06.

5/5/05, I legally purchased the cerveza this year!

It's been a while...

Since I've posted anything. I've been updating my movie list, but I doubt many have noted the changes since I'm pretty convinced I've lost my readership. No worries I'll continue to share with you some updates anyways!

Life: Days go by. Oliver got another haircut and his mohawk looks even better now! Last week Kacie, Shirley and I went to the Calf fry to see Miranda Lambert! It was a treat! The field was not grassy but instead MUDDY, and it was NASTY! My new boots definitely got broken in. A drunk girl in the backseat of an SUV drove past us on our way to the concert and shouted how much she liked Kacie's shiny sleeves. Shirley showed us her cat-like reflexes when she fell in a hole! It was pretty epic, but not quite as great as our midnight visit to the Wal-Mart bathroom for a good foot rinse. We weren't the only with the great idea and later were joined by another group of girls equally muddy. One girl galluped with paper towels and whipped a Wal-Mart worker. This worker was not pleased to find a muddy floor and puddles of water, especially since we interrupted her trying to go twosies on the job. Needless to say, she didn't do her duty, and got extra work thanks to us! Oh the memories! Also before we left Stillwater, Shirley treated us all to Giant Cheese Balls! They were GIANT!

Jobline:....Nothing too new with jobs. I was told I had the perfect job waiting for me, but I've never received a phone call about training or even an interview. I'm still waiting on this opportunity to give me a ring. The only news I heard about it thus far, is concern that I may get bored with it. I don't care HONESTLY! I just want a paycheck to offset my stupid health insurance premium! Mr. President, I'm still waiting on my big break!

Wedding Season: My cousin Chris was the first of the grandchildren to marry. He wins the "First to Marry Award". I'm pretty sure G&G were some of the happiest people at that wedding. Brad and Jamie also got haggled by the aunts as to why Russell and I have not married yet. I broke the bad news to them that we're waiting on Nathan, Charles, Emily, and Logan to wed before we take those steps. They seemed disappointed. A week after Chris got married, Brad's best friend, Nathan got married. This was my FIRST ever Catholic wedding. I was dreading it because I've heard nothing but warning about the length of the ceremony, but to my advantage, they shortened it as much as possible, and was only 45 min. long. These are the only 2 weddings Brad and I have planned on attending for the rest of the year. I must say this is the best year of weddings and we got off easy with only 2 in April and NONE in June/July/August! Thank goodness!

Vacation in 13ish days!! I can't wait! I received my passport 2 weeks ago, we've purchased the power converter thingys, we've arranged for Oliver's caretakers, I got new sunglasses (I anticipate sun in Paris, not London), we purchased our tourist guides, and I got a new messenger bag/purse to complete the tourist look. I still have yet to find a good rain jacket, but I still have time!

Movie update: If you've been paying attention I knock them off as I see them. I've enjoyed all of the scratched off movies in their own special way. I'm super excited to go see X-Men Origins: Wolverine, hopefully tomorrow! If you have any questions about any scratched off ones, feel free to ask me, I've got plenty of input!

I guess that's all I've got for now. I need to find a decent sign off to make this feel more bloggy-ish. I'll be working on that, so until next time...

Sweet Lincoln's mullet.

Dear Local Television News Stations,

I'm writing to express my concern in your latest preempting television on Thursday night. Yes, I understand that half of my state is on fire, yes I feel horrible for the families that have had to evacuate their homes, yes I feel even worse for the ones that have lost their homes. Now to the media, why do you feel the need to preempt ALL night of prime-time television. I'm upset you caused my DVR to record your pathetic excuse of "news" instead of the newest episode of The Office, as well as the television debut of Parks & Recreation. It doesn't just stop there, I missed CSI AND Harper's Island. How do I know if I'm even going to like these 2 new shows, if you've preempted them?!

What kind of news is there to generate that justifies your 3 hours of reporting, that you already didn't report from 3:00 on? NONE! There you have your answer. The fire departments are working overtime with the fires, your pilots are starving and want to go home for dinner, and the Oklahoma wind isn't going to magically stop blowing in the middle of the afternoon/evening. It's OKLAHOMA, the wind never stops blowing! I suggest the next time you choose to preempt my prime-time Thursday night TV, it better be because there is a tornado coming straight for my house and I better bail out of it or I'm going to go for a spin! I don't see any of your stupid reporters out there with hoses helping the poor citizen wetting down his neighbors yards because they're not home from work yet to protect their own house. Instead you're interviewing him when he could be doing more good.

Until you get your lazy preempting rears out there and do something personally about these fires then I don't care about your pathetic excuse of what you'd call "reporting". You could have broken in during the commercial breaks to give us an update, (like you do with tornados!) or you could run your little news ticker at the bottom of the screen, that you've FINALLY opted for at 11:00pm. There was ABSOLUTELY no justification for the preempting you did to my Thursday night television! I think you went overboard and this was most def! OVERKILL DOUCHE BAGS!

Angry in Oklahoma,

Trouble Darling

Ask and You Shall Receive

Back in October I posted life goals on my Tumblr.

It is as follows:

So we just booked our flight to London! I think I'm most excited about seeing Platform 9 3/4!! Oh and we're also taking the train to Paris, so I'll have the opportunity to knock off number 10! I'm sooooo ready for my vacay! I can't wait!

Vacay?

I feel like I keep harping on the whole need a job thing, but I've lost faith it's in my plan. I've been nothing but patient, I swear!
This recession is killing me, and evidently I have a crappy degree... but I wasn't informed of that during the time of going through the program and completing it.
So now that I've been stuck in this enormous rut, I need a vacation! I'm thinking somewhere warm and sunny (preferably a beach), so the plan thus far is SoCal! Thoughts anyone?

Time Marches On

Pardon my pun...the month of March is now upon us. This month commemorates the month upon which I was born. Normally I'm not concerned about notching another year on my life belt, but this year, this month, will mark my quarter of a century old notch. As I've been reminded it's simply a fact of life, but to me it's kind of a big deal!

Looking back on the kids I graduated from high school with, they have started their families, and if not kids then at least a husband/wife. Of the 38, yes I know a small graduating class, there are only 4 unmarried females left! I'm one of them. So for typical small town mentality, it should be said that she's not married because she's focusing on her career. ERRRR wrong again Bob!
She's simply happy being the independant female that she was raised to be!

The small town moms would say that she wasn't raised properly or else she'd be married off by now!
I say, I couldn't have asked for better parents! I'm thankful that I was raised to know that I had a choice, I don't have to fall into the "norm", and I'm not to be shipped off to college only to acquire my MRS!

So I guess....I'm going to become another year older this month, which means another year wiser right? This is why I shall continue to enjoy being the badass unmarried female that will be putting herself, her dreams, and possibly her career first once again!

Confession

After all this time of doing nothing I'm starting to lose a little piece of my sanity one day at a time. I have so much that I want to do, but I keep telling myself it's not justified. If I had a job I could do it without feeling the guilt. Not to mention those dang student loans hanging over my head!

So I must confess, I stopped looking for jobs for about umm a month! GASP! I know! But now I've sent my resume off to a few locations. Let's hope I have a decent batting average, and I get a call soon! After having such a nasty taste in my mouth about working again (thanks to that douche bag), I'm being VERY picky in the places I'm chosing to send my resume to. Ok so now my conscious feels somewhat better, hopefully this weight being lifted is also a sign I'll be getting a job soon! Everyone keep your fingers crossed that I get a new badass job!

High Maintenance

Oliver got his "summer" cut. His hair gets really matted, so the best resolution is to shave it all off. This takes away from the "traditional" schnauzer cut, but his groomer is much more appreciative about it. We learned this the hard way when we requested it to be brushed out. We received a frustrated phone call, followed by a halfass haircut. So, without further ado, here is Oliver with his newest haircut!

Only in Oklahoma do you use Tornados as Adjectives

Yesterday it was "tornadoing" in the vicinity. We were very fortunate that it skipped right over the top of us, and hit 1 mile away. Oliver and I were home alone while all the storms moved in.
Here is a play-by-play of our fun experience.

We prepared our "safe room" and waited on the storms to pass. It started with hearing the sirens alert us, (even though at this point they were 30 miles away). So we're watching the news and tracking the progress of the storm when we hear the tornado is about 10 miles out, and west Edmond should take cover. This time was when we decided to go into the safe room.

As we're in the safe room with our laptop and live streaming video of the newscast, everything goes pitchblack! I had my iPhone so I used it as a temporary flashlight, and caught sight of Oliver's cofusion from the darkness. In the meantime I'm trying to get a call out to find where the storm might be and what we may need to prepare for. Well in Oklahoma when it tornados, cell phones are USELESS. I had no service, the network was jammed, so I continued to try to call my father, and after about 20+ attempts success! Dad was experiencing his own storm while we sat in darkness. (Guthrie received much worse hail stones than we had).

We were in our safe room for a good hour waiting on power, and the multiple tornados to pass over. After our power came back on the sirens continued to blow another 3-4 times and we still had to wait out storms. We were just thankful for power! Here is a picture of and Oliver's impatience, and our small hail in the back yard. I compared our hail to Sonic ice, while Dad's was comparable to golf balls!
So long story short, we were safe from the storms, somewhat prepared, and we were very fortunate for the tornado to pick up and touchdown a mile away from us! You never can fully predict a tornado's path of destruction. Oliver and I were just thankful for getting missed!

I Need A Job

There are too many things I want right now, but just can't justify purchasing without a steady income. My last unjustified purchase was my beloved iPhone...not saying it was a stupid decision, because it was not, I LOVE MY iPhone! It's just the rest of life is getting more and more expensive. For example, my health insurance went up $18/mo since I'm getting older...this is messed up to me. That's a $216/year increase!! Mr. President I NEED A BREAK on my health insurance! And also I really want some new clothing from AE...

Monday, February 2, 2009

Actually...this is where I'd run to!

Keep in mind, I've been to Coachella...it's not known to be in the "good" part of SoCal. When I did mission work here, I was told it was the "Mexican Ghetto", it's pretty true. Ghetto or not, this looks like one badass concert!

Everytime I Feel Like This I Want to Run Away...

But I forget how I'm unemployeed and have nowhere to go...

Day after day I pray for the pain to go away, and day after day I still continue to feel it.
Every once in a while it's temporarily numb, I'm looking for the permanent numbness...maybe someday, just maybe someday....

I think it's almost obvious that I'm not a fan of cold weather. I'd also like to think of myself as an avid badass traveler.

My (not so) Small Rant

So I would just like to say that I think some people are such idiots.

Examples of this; someone who I am clearly not friends with anymore sends my mom an invite to her baby shower. Really?!

First, of all you'd never be acquainted with my mom had you never known me...now that we're not friends, what makes you think it's acceptable to send that invite? Oh yeah! I forgot, you're the selfish little girl that I told off over 3? years ago, you want presents. That being said is another prime example of being a SELFISH dumbass!

Seond, yeah you're so smart to invite my boyfriend, AND ex-boyfriend to join your stupid group on Facebook...yeah... that makes so MUCH sense! Let's reevaluate this, my boyfriend and ex-boyfriend are friends of mine that you would have never known had it not been for ME, once again! You're an idiot and I'm so thankful for the decision of ridding you from my life. Now you just need to rid yourself of thinking my friends will still want to be associated with you.
I think you're a douche bag that needs to GET A LIFE!

My Bloody Valentine

Well evidently I failed on the constructive criticism with the comments...so now you're all going to suffer through my non-outlined and unorganized blog! Yeah, I would have done it regardless with or without the comments.

So lately I've found myself once again becoming an insomniac. I find it incredibly annoying.
I think all my stupid worries about taking the GRE and getting accepted into grad school is the culprit?

Today: Kacie, Shirley and I went to see My Bloody Valentine. This movie was pretty badass. Not only because it starred Jensen Ackles (who is on my Top 10), but also because it was my VERY first 3D movie experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and I highly recommend you go watch it! However, with its Restricted rating, keep in mind it is bloody. (Also as Kacie pointed out to Shirley that the name of the movie was My BLOODY Valentine.) So if you're not one good with blood, I might not recommend it afterall.
