Therapy

Music is definitely a form of therapy and I'm indulging in it this week-ish.

Sunday, Shirley and I attended our third Avett Brothers concert, coincidentally on our one year anniversary from seeing them last year at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa.

Tomorrow I'll be taking in a Flyleaf concert.

Thursday, I'm going to see 30 Seconds to Mars.

Friday-Sunday my ears will be recuperating.

Monday, I'll be traveling to Tulsa to see Vampire Weekend.

Tuesday, I'll be taking in Local Natives.

Yup Looks like I'll be busy with concerts.
Sounds good to me.

inspiration

I have lots of free time on my hands these days so I'm looking for a new hobby. I've never been one to really have a hobby, so I need suggestions. I do read, but I'm currently backed up with my literature pile, so please refrain from that suggestion. Any other ideas I'm open to so let the comments begin... my 2? avid readers!
Side note, I'm looking for something fairly inexpensive too.

That's what I'm doin' these days...

Lately I've been readjusting to life.

I was offered a job, no interview needed. I was hired on the spot! This is rare for me, but I just roll with it. was originally hired to be a sub, and then go full-time in the Summer. I was planning to only suffer from sleep deprivation for the week of spring break and then it was back to 15 hours of sleep each day. Spring break came and went. I was also needed to fill in for Monday-Wednesday of the next week, so my sleephead rolled in again on Monday with the motivation of knowing that I could be sleeping in again by Thursday. WRONG! My boss called me in his office and offered me my own class with 15 kids, starting immediately!!!! Go me! Actually it was more Go K! She suggested me for the job!

In the meantime, I've been on a concert high ever since attending The Avett Brothers, and John Mayer concerts. Back in November, Shirley and I tried getting Taylor Swift tickets and they sold out within 5 min. while we were in the process of getting. Oh well, life goes on I suppose. During the week of spring break I heard that Lady Gaga will be extending her Monster Ball Tour, and making a stop in OKC!!! I had to know when!! July 20....hmmm this is in the middle of my honeymoon...what to do! Yeah, I'm ridiculous and have postponed it to attend the concert. B's ok with it, plus we'll gain a couple extra days for our honeymoon this way, as well as get to spend more time with his brother and sis-in-law. See WIN-WIN! So after getting hold of a presale code and purchasing our tickets to see Lady Gaga, I thought why not try again for T-Swizz, (a week before the concert). I knew it was a lost cause, but it was at least worth trying. I type in the search box for the number of tickets I want, and BAM! Right there! Seats available!!!! So now I'll be attending Taylor's concert on Wednesday! I have a lot to look forward to these days.

Life seems to be looking up, I just hope it's not a temporary high.

IDK

Do you ever feel like you're going through life and it's just one giant ball of lies? Do you ever lose the desire to make yourself get out of bed? Like you feel there's no purpose for your living that day and the world would go on as if nothing were different with or without you? You wake up each day, stroll around in public and feel like you're Peter Gibbons from Office Space; you've been hypnotized and there's nothing that exists that you care about? Do you feel like you're spinning your wheels and going nowhere at all. Do you feel like you've crashed in a ditch and there's no one around to give you a tow? My spirit is broken and no one seems to notice...

To Whom It May Concern:

Dear Chesapeake Energy,

I would like to express to you my returning heartbreak in being turned down by your company once more. This would be my fourth, YES FOURTH attempt to work at your wonderful company...once again you've broken my spirit. Since you said: "while your credentials are impressive, we are continuing our search," that I would keep up with my blog and continue to gain attention via cyberspace that I DO know how to use Social Media with something small from a peon like me. Yes, I know blogging is only a small source of social media, but it's also something I've only been doing since 2004, back when blogging wasn't quite the phenomenon that it is today. Yes I also have been "tweeting" well over a year before that phenomenon kicked in (with Hollywood) as well. I'm still in the process of getting a podcast up and going therefore I do seem to be behind on that technology phenomenon. You also can find me on Facebook, Tumblr, LinkedIn and yes I even have a Photobucket account.

I'm writing to you to ask what does it take to get hired within your company? I've told MILLIONS of people that working for you would make one of my tiny dreams come true, yet you keep crushing them before they can even become a glimmer in my eye.
I have what in my opinion is a well qualifying resume to work for your company, and I have friends that work there. Yes, they have tried to get me hired, yet they don't seem to be "high up" enough to get me the job.
PLEASE PLEASE provide me with information as to what one needs to do to get the attention to get hired within your company. I have a Bachelor's in Journalism - Public Relations, I don't care what position you have available that you think may be below me, I will work in a mail room, or even be someone's assistant, I just would REALLY REALLY like to work for you, Chesapeake Energy.

DESPERATELY seeking employment,

R

2009 Year-in-review

So normally I do a year in review, and I'll take my best stab at it once again, due to my unemployment this year was fairly uneventful.

January,
We hosted an AWESOME (totally making fun of) HSM 3 party for Shirley! Brad turned a quarter of a century old!

February,
K and I got new piercings to celebrate K's B-I-G 2-5!

March,
I partied WAYYY too hard for my own good for my 25th, and ended up revisiting my dinner in the drive-thru of Taco Bell at 2am.

April,
Brad booked our flight for London and train to Paris. Oliver turned 1!

May,
Brad, Russell, and I all took a 10ish-day excursion to London. We went to visit Duff and Larissa! We saw the London Tower, Tower Bridge, British Museum, Abbey Road, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Parliament, and rode the London Eye. Brad and I went to Paris so I could mark off "See the Eiffel Tower at Night" from my life list. The Tower was beautiful! It was also pretty amazing to see at night! We took the Fat Tire Bike Tour around Paris, and highly recommend it when you go! Along the tour, we saw the Pantheon, Napoléon's Tomb, Louvre Museum, Musée D'Orsay, Tuileries Gardens, Champs-Elysées, and Arc de Triomphe. We went to the top of Mountparnasse Tower to get the best view of the Eiffel Tower, took a 4-5 hour tour of the Eiffel Tower, took a quick tour of the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa, and Aphrodite/Venus de Milo, saw the Cathedral(e) of Notre Dame, and we took an awesome tour of the Catacombs/Municipal Ossuary, and had some delicious glaces every evening! We had some serious camera complications, (that we later resolved in June). Brad and I got engaged!

June,
We took a road to recovery for finances and laid low again. I also got a job as an assistant pre-K teacher at a Child Development Center.

July,
We had our annual 4th of July celebration at the house, with water balloon's in full force. The VA Chap's came to visit, sans Logan, :( and we had another family reunion.

August,
K's Gram became very ill with cancer and we took a roadtrip to Houston for the weekend to visit. I finally got to see Galveston. We had our very first Buc-ee's experience and can't wait to go back!

September,
I quit my crappy job! K and I took one part of our teacher certification test and PASSED!!

October,
I attended a friend's, boyfriend's birthday party at the bowling alley and met my future BFF, Lucas! We had an awesome night after the bowling alley back at the "bros" house where we consumed cardboard! I didn't do anything cool for Halloween like visit Salem, but we had a low-key Halloween gathering at the house instead. We had a Roaring 20's flapper and gangster, Prince Charming with his Purple Princess, a French Frog, and Richie Tenenbaum in attendance.

November,
I perfected the traditional pumpkin roll, and celebrated two Thanksgivings with the Chap's and Webb's. The Movie Club commenced for it's second annual Midnight showing of Twilight: New Moon. The lines were ridiculously long compared to the previous year. We got in line at Macy's and it wrapped the other half of the mall all the way down to the theatre, we sat on the second row...

December,
We had a HUGE blizzard on Christmas Eve, record snowfall for the state of OK with like 16ish inches! The biggest snowstorm in my lifetime thus far!

Throughout the year Shirley and I kept Movie Club going strong and we took in quite a few movies over the year. Keep an eye out as we wither down our 2010 movie schedule!
